Echoes of The East : A LAYMOUN Nights

Brought Arab Culture to the Stage

On April 25, Laymoun hosted Echoes of the East – A Laymoun Night at the University of Ottawa Auditorium, bringing together live Arabic music, dance, and community for a cultural evening unlike anything else in the city.

From the moment the doors opened, the night carried a special energy. Guests arrived dressed beautifully, excited to gather in a space created to celebrate Middle Eastern culture through art, music, movement, and shared identity. The theatre setting gave the event a cinematic feeling — warm lights, a full stage, and a crowd ready to experience something meaningful.

The evening featured a live performance by Hikaya, a Toronto-based Arabic fusion band known for blending traditional Arabic sounds with jazz and contemporary influences. Their performance brought oud, percussion, vocals, and rich musical arrangements together in a way that felt both nostalgic and modern. The music carried the audience through familiar emotions: joy, longing, pride, memory, and celebration.

The night also featured a powerful dance performance by Entropy Entertainment, adding movement and visual energy to the event. Their performance brought the rhythm of the music to life and helped transform the evening from a concert into a full cultural experience.

One of the most beautiful moments of the night came when the audience became part of the show. What started with people clapping from their seats turned into a shared celebration, with guests joining in and dancing together. The energy in the room shifted from performance to community — exactly what Laymoun Nights are meant to create.

Echoes of the East was more than a show. It was a reminder that Middle Eastern culture is not only something we remember; it is something we continue to build, share, and celebrate. In a time where the Middle East is often spoken about through conflict and hardship, this event offered a different image: one filled with beauty, rhythm, resilience, and art.

For Laymoun, this night represented an important step forward. After smaller cultural gatherings and tribute nights, Echoes of the East proved that Ottawa is ready for large-scale Middle Eastern cultural experiences — events that feel polished, intentional, emotional, and open to everyone.

To everyone who attended, supported, performed, shared the event, bought a ticket, or simply believed in the vision: thank you. You helped turn Echoes of the East into more than an event. You helped make it a memory.

This was only the beginning.
